Prof Digby Tantam, Clinical Professor of Psychotherapy, University of Sheffield claimed that humans are more connected to each other than earlier understood. According to him, there is a Wi-Fi Connection between us humans. Not exactly ground-breaking discovery. Nevertheless, it gives credence to ancient theories about intuition, sixth sense, and telepathy.
Body Mind Spirit Connection
How do human pick up information that is beyond normal senses? Where do gut feelings originate? Can one sense things beyond the normal five senses? The ancient yogic tradition having studied the human anatomy has developed the chakra system that explained the mind-body-spirit connection. One really cannot separate one part of the body from the rest of system.
Michael Jawer and Dr. Micozz authors of The Spiritual Anatomy of Emotion demonstrate that the way we process our feelings provides a key to who is most likely to experience supernatural phenomena and why. They explain that emotion is a portal into the world of extraordinary perception. Far from being by-products of neurochemistry, the authors show that emotions are the key vehicle by which we can understand ourselves and our interactions with the world around us as well as our most intriguing and perennially baffling—experiences
Downside of Mirror Neurons
Mammals have evolved limbic circuitry to ‘read’ the internal states of others Mirror neurons that assist us with empathy and understanding the emotional world of another person. They bridge sensory, motor and affect circuitry allowing us to be activated with movement and emotion due to the visual stimulus of watching others (or even a picture of a movie). However, the downside of mirror neurons is effect of not having positive mirrors in one’s life could distort one’s view of life. Child abuse is one of the most toxic ways a person’s higher senses get muddled.
Abuse Changes Perceptions
In case our emotional structure has been damaged due to systematic child abuse our so-called WI-Fi system does not kick into action. Children who have been traumatized show a distorted and heightened sensitivity to external stimuli. They become hyper-vigilant The mind body-mind connection gets scrambled and needs to be re-calibrated. Adults who lived high-stress childhoods have trouble reading the signs which affect not just their social functioning but also their higher mental cognition. Neuro-scientists discovered that their neural networks develop in ways that don’t process risks the same ways that kids who haven’t suffered trauma do. That is the reason why adult survivors usually make terrible relationship or professional decisions. Stress inflames the vagus nerve and effects the smooth transmission of nerve impulses to the brain and other parts of the body.
Relaxing the Vagus Nerve
Stephen Porges a professor of psychiatry posited the Polyvagal theory. Vagus nerve conveys messages between your Gut and Brain. About 80-85% of nerve fibers in Vagus nerve transfer visceral feelings or gut instincts from gut (enteric nervous system) to the brain and also from the brain to the gut, making a feedback loop. Porges has termed this process of perception and evaluation neuroception. He defines this process as “how neural circuits distinguish whether situations or people are safe, dangerous or life-threatening. When our Vagus Nerve is in peak condition, we feel relaxed and centered. Able to navigate life with a sense of trust and feelings of empowerment.
Connecting Into Intuition
Malcolm Gladwell, author of the best-selling book Blink: The Power of Thinking without thinking dissects and discusses the art of human intuition and elaborates on how humans can, by developing it to perfection, be able to make quick yet accurate and effective decisions. Whatever one may call it intuition, inter-brain connection, telepathy or sixth sense we can only access those states when we are in a condition of relaxed awareness – when our third eye or pineal gland is open. The Shambhavi mudra, or “Eyebrow Gazing Mudra” is a powerful way to activate your third eye chakra and tap into your inbuilt Wi-Fi when you can think without thinking.
