I love the song The Passenger by Iggy Pop
“I am a passenger
And I ride and I ride
I ride through the city’s backside
I see the stars come out of the sky
Yeah, they’re bright in a hollow sky
You know it looks so good tonight”

Sometimes when we feel stuck we need to remember that our current situation is not permanent. Life is fluid and changing, this could improve, get better. There is no point in losing the present moment. There is always something we can find that brings us joy. You need to find beauty in everyday things and enjoy it. There are so many things in this beautiful universe ‘the stars’, the sky’ and it belongs to those who find happiness in enjoying their journey. It is up to us to grab the moment and live joyfully.
The key to obtaining real peace in our lives is to focus on enjoying the journey, taking the time to “smell the roses,” and focusing on the little things that are important in life. Like family, and friends. nurturing relationships and the beauty of nature.
The two wonderful women passengers who taught me how to enjoy the journey
I relish the lines:
“All of it was made for you and me
’cause it just belongs to you and me
So let’s take a ride and see what’s mine”
I love the idea, that the stars and the night sky and the beauty of the world belong to everyone.
The Present Moment
We are passengers, we have the choice to break our journey, take another bus, rest a little, or change our mode of transport. Finally, we are in control and are free to decide how we perceive things. Even though, we may feel uncertainty and not know what our destination is or have much influence over it.
Sometimes, the only thing you can do (when you cannot steer your life) is to be a passenger who can only watch through the windows, and meet every event with appreciation.
I have realized that in most instances one needs to relinquish control and simply experience what is. Savor the present moment. Be like a passenger appreciating the view and trust that you will eventually reach your destination.
